The Montana State Genealogical Society was founded in 1989 with the purpose of promoting the study of genealogical and historical research within the State of Montana.
Volume V of our First Families and Early Settlers Books is now available. Order your copy on the order sheet. Volumes I, II, and III are also available for purchase. We have sold out of Volume IV and no reprint is planned.
The combined index of ancestors featured in the first four Volumes of the First Families and Early Settlers Books is now available. It is split by surnames beginning with A-G, H-N and O-Z.
New MSGS Bylaws The revised MSGS Bylaws were adopted by the MSGS Membership at the Annual Meeting on 22 September 2018 and are available in pdf format by clicking the link. These Bylaws replace MSGS Bylaws dated 26 September 2009. MSGS Standing Rules, revised 13 July 2019 are also available in pdf format by clicking that link.
The Montana State Genealogical Society Conference will take place September 29, 30, October 1, 2022 at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort in Fairmont, Montana. See the complete details on the Conference Tab. Registration is now open.

Thanks to a tremendous amount of work from several of our members, we are also very proud of our State Genealogical Library, now located on the 1st floor of the Lewis & Clark Public Library in Helena.
